A.E.R.S.O Rules for 2011
All riders must be
members of the Equestrian Association of the South
West Region (AERSO). Annual membership fee is $25.00
for Juniors $30.00 for Seniors. Proof of membership
must be shown at the show or a late membership fee
of $10 will be levied along with the normal
membership fee.
ASTM safety approved helmets must be worn by
exhibitors at all times when mounted.
Judges are not permitted to judge any AERSO shows
more than twice in the same ring, in the same year.
This show and all other AERSO Horse Shows are open
to all horses and riders and will act as a
qualifying
competition for the Jeux Equestre du Quebec. These
shows are governed by the rules of Equine Canada
which are available online at www.equinecanada.ca
In order to be eligible for the Jeux Equestre Finals
and/or AERSO year-end awards exhibitors must
compete at a minimum of 3 shows, results will only
be counted for the best 5 out of 7 shows.
In the jumper divisions only the same horse/rider
combination will have points counted to qualify for
the
Jeux Equestre Finals. If this rule is not respected,
no points will be counted for this horse.
Horses and/or ponies entered in all equitation
classes over fences are permitted to go a second
time in the same class with a different rider.
Junior A riders are not permitted to ride small
ponies.
Amateur classes are open to non-pro riders, as per
the non-pro rule (Article G411) in the EC Rule book.
Novice:
Open to all horses. Riders are restricted to their
respective age category, and cannot enter any other
classes.
Baby Green Hunter:
Open to all riders on horses which have never
competed over fences at a Permit or Primary horse
show prior to January 1st of the current year.
Courses will not be adjusted for ponies. .
Small/Medium/Large Pony Hunter:
Small ponies are 12.2 hands and under; fences to
2'3". Medium ponies are over 12.2 and under 13.2
hands; fences to 2'6". Large ponies are over 13.2
and under 14.2 hands; fences to 2'9".
Junior ages are as follows, class heights are
determined by size of their mount
Junior C a rider who is under 12 on January 1st
Junior B a rider who is 12, 13, or 14 on January 1st
Junior A a rider who is 15, 16 or 17 on January 1st
Adult/Amateur riders are over the age of 18 and
defined as non-pro, as per EC rule book.
Modified Hunter:
Open to all horses and to junior and amateur riders.
Riders can only cross-enter into their respective
equitation classes, other than novice. Fences to
2'9".
Junior Hunter: Open to all horses and junior riders
not showing in novice or modified classes; fences to
3'0".
Amateur Hunter/Equitation:
Open to all horses and riders over 18 not showing in
novice or modified classes; fences to 3'0".
Combining Classes:
Less than 6 entries in Amateur 3’ Hunter & 3’
Amateur Equitation the classes will be combined with
the 3’ Children’s Hunter and the 3’ Junior
Equitation classe; the Novice Amateur and Novice
Junior will be combined with less than 6 entries in
either class.
• The class would be Junior/Amateur 3’ Hunter
• The class would be Junior/Amateur 3’ Equitation
• The class would be Mod Junior/Amateur 2’6”
Equitation
Pony Medal:
Open to all ponies and to junior riders not
restricted by the rules of any other classes. Riders
are judged on position, security, and control on
course. A minimum of 2 tests will be incorporated
into the course; courses will be adjusted.
Sandridge Saddlery Medal:
Open to all horses and to junior and amateur riders
not restricted by the rules of any other classes.
Riders are judged on position, security, and control
on course. A minimum of 2 tests will be incorporated
into the course; fences to 3'0".
Jumper:
Open to all horses, and to riders not restricted by
the rules of any other class. Only performance
counts. In the case of a clear round, an immediate
jump-off against the clock will be held.
Points for year-end awards will be calculated as
follows:
1st Place - 7 points
2nd Place - 5 points
3rd Place - 4 points
4th Place - 3 points
5th Place - 2 points
6th Place - 1 point
Flat Classes have the same value as the Over Fences
Classes. In all hunter and jumper classes points are
awarded to the horse/pony. In all equitation classes
points are awarded to the rider.
