You must be a member of AERSO to compete at this show.  The membership fees are $25 for juniors and $30 for seniors. There will be no day stalls offered at the AERSO shows.

Course Design:

A.E.R.S.O Rules for 2009

1. Novice Equitation:
   Open to all horses. Riders are restricted to their respective age category and may not enter any other classes.
2. Baby Green Hunter:
   Open to all horses that have never competed over fences at a Permit or Primary Horse Show prior to January 1st of the current year. Open to all riders. Courses will not be adjusted for ponies.
3. Modified Junior and Amateur/Non-Pro Hunter:
   Riders in this division may not enter any equitation classes over fences higher than 2'9" nor any novice classes. Entry in Junior C and Junior B equitation is permissible. Fences to 2'9". Open to all horses.
4. Junior C Equitation:
   Open to riders who are under the age of 12 years as of January 1st of the current year. All horses and ponies are eligible. Fences to 2'3", courses will not be adjusted.
5. Junior B Equitation:
   Open to riders who are over 11 years and under the age of 15 years as of January 1st of the current year. All horses and large ponies are eligible. Fences to 2'6", courses will be adjusted.
6. Junior A Equitation:
   Open to riders who are over 14 years and under the age of 18 years as of January 1st of the current year. All horses and ponies are eligible. Fences to 3', courses will be adjusted.
7. Junior and Amateur/Non-Pro Hunters:
   Open to all junior and amateur/non-pro riders who are not showing in any novice or modified classes. Horses will be judged on performances, manners and way of going. Fences to 3'.
8. Amateur/Non-Pro Equitation:
   Open to amateur/non-pro riders who are not showing in any modified or novice classes. Fences to 3'.
9. Combining Classes:
   Less than 4 entries in Amateur 3’ Hunter & 3’ Amateur Equitation the classes will be combined with the 3’ Junior Hunter and the 3’ Junior Equitation classes.
   • The class would be Junior/Amateur 3’ Hunter
   • The class would be Junior/Amateur 3’ Equitation
10. Sandridge Medal:
    This class is open to junior and amateur/non-pro riders who are not restricted by the rules of any other classes. All horses are eligible. To be judged on the rider's position, security and control on course. A minimum of 2 tests will be incorporated into the course. Fences to 3'.  
11. Pony Hunter:
    Ponies will be judged on performance, manners and way of going. Small ponies are 12.2 hands and under. Fences to 2'3". Medium ponies are over 12.2 and under 13.2 hands. Fences to 2'6". Large ponies are over 13.2 and under 14.2 hands. Fences to 2'9". Junior A riders are not permitted to ride small and medium ponies.
12. Jumper Classes:
    Open to all horses. All riders, who are not restricted by the rules of any other class, are eligible. In the case of a clear round an immediate jump off against the clock will be held as per EC Table A rules. Ponies are permitted, distances will not be adjusted.
13. Jumper Equitation:
    Open to all riders who are not restricted by the rules of any other classes. To be judged on equitation, jumping faults, will not be penalized unless rider error.  
14. Points for year-end awards will be calculated as follows:
    
    1st Place - 7 points
    2nd Place - 5 points
    3rd Place - 4 points
    4th Place - 3 points
    5th Place - 2 points
    6th Place - 1 point
    Flat Classes have the same value as the Over Fences Classes. In all hunter and jumper classes points are awarded to the horse/pony. In all equitation classes points are awarded to the rider.
